October 2025: Slay the Spire 2 revealed the Necrobinder, a Spireborn lich whose entire kit revolves around Osty, a giant skeletal hand she summons, controls and sacrifices.

October 2025 brought the sequel's first new-character reveal: the Necrobinder, a lich "born of the Spire itself" — and, alongside her, the star of the show: Osty, the giant undead hand she fights alongside.
The reveal framed the Necrobinder's whole identity around the summon. Osty attacks independently, soaks damage meant for his 66-HP master, and — the twist that made lich players sit up — interacts with the Necrobinder's own spells in both directions: buffed by necromancy, and Sacrifice-d by it when the moment demands. The character's kit traded raw health (the lowest in the game) for a renewable meat shield and a death-themed spellbook.
The reveal article walked through her signature cards: summons that stack Osty's health, sacrificial payoffs, and the Doom mechanic — a creeping debuff that executes enemies once their stack meets their health bar, ignoring Block entirely. (See our Doom burst build for how that turned out in practice.)
With the Necrobinder revealed, the sequel's roster math was public: three returning classes — Ironclad, Silent, Defect — and two newcomers, the Necrobinder and, soon after, the starry Regent. The unlock order would chain them: each new class freed by finishing a run with the last.
