Ever wondered how everyone else's runs go? Mega Crit's May newsletter opened the books: 240 million runs played, 60.5 million wins, and 179.5 million deaths — an overall win rate of 25%, which the studio notes is far healthier than it sounds for a game designed to kill you.

The win-rate charts, tiered

  • Overall: 25% — one in four climbs succeeds.
  • Ascension 0: 16% average — dramatically kinder than the original game's Ascension-0 figure of 9%. The sequel's opening difficulty is tuned meaningfully friendlier.
  • Ascension 10 (current cap): about 17% — remarkably, higher than the base game's rate, and light-years beyond the original's Ascension 20 win rate of roughly 3%.

The reading: the sequel's difficulty curve is flatter. Early Ascensions no longer cliff the win rate the way the original's did, which keeps the ladder climbable for mid-core players while the ceiling still humbles everyone.

Who everyone is playing

The class pick data answered the eternal question: Ironclad leads the pick rate at 24% — the friendly 80-HP knight remains everyone's first love — with the rest of the roster spread behind him. (Where to start yourself: the class guide and the difficulty ranking.)

The newsletter also teased upcoming development directions, continuing the monthly-communication rhythm that has carried patch context, mode teases and roadmap beats to players since before launch.

Two hundred forty million runs in under three months is also, quietly, the answer to every "is Early Access worth it" thread: the spire has never been more alive.
