Slay the Spire 2 Peak Hits 570,000 — Steam's Biggest 2026 Launch by Far

Slay the Spire 2's concurrent peak passed 570,000 on launch weekend — top twenty in Steam's all-time list, past Call of Duty and Terraria, and nothing in 2026's release slate close.

The launch weekend's final record: 570,000-plus concurrent players — a figure that placed Slay the Spire 2 in Steam's all-time top twenty by peak concurrency, ahead of Call of Duty, Terraria and a wall of household names, and comfortably the biggest PC launch of 2026 to date.
The comparisons ran out of scale. The peak stood at ten times the original game's all-time record; it dwarfed same-genre launches; it embarrassed same-day blockbusters; and with GTA6's PC version nowhere in sight, commentators struggled to name a 2026 release positioned to touch it. Twenty-five hundred-plus reviews were landing per day, nearly all positive, on top of the 95% launch status.
Mega Crit's response to the milestone was as much letter as tweet: the team said it had been blown away by the number of people playing and sharing their love for the game — five-plus years of development meeting this kind of arrival, they wrote, was beyond what they knew how to process.
The all-time context is worth keeping. Steam's peak-concurrency top twenty is mostly free-to-play titans with decade-long lifespans; a paid, single-purchase Early Access deckbuilder crashing the party said something about the franchise's stored goodwill — and about what happens when a genre's founder ships a sequel that reviewers scored as a masterpiece.
