Chart position on launch day is the industry's cleanest scoreboard, and Slay the Spire 2 took the top spot: within hours of its Early Access release, the game topped Steam's global top sellers chart — above Resident Evil: Requiem, above Sony's extraction shooter Marathon, and #1 across multiple regional charts including China, the United States and Japan.

The context sharpened the achievement. The #1 slot is usually contested among full-priced blockbusters with marketing budgets to match; a paid Early Access deckbuilder from an indie studio out-selling them simultaneously worldwide was the day's quiet shock. The regional spread mattered too — topping the US and Japanese charts alongside China's showed the demand wasn't a single-market wave but the franchise's whole global audience showing up at once.

The chart run paired with the rest of launch day's scoreboard: 95% positive reviews, 189,000 concurrent players and climbing, and a launch crowd big enough to briefly break Steam itself.

By the end of the week the sales picture had its official number — three million copies in seven days — and the weekly chart re-read confirmed the trend wasn't a spike: the spire held the #1 slot into the following week's rankings.
