Slay the Spire 2 Regent — Class Guide, Stars & Starter Relic

The Regent in Slay the Spire 2: 75 Max HP, Divine Right and the Star energy system, minion summons like the Sovereign Blade, and how to unlock the Throne of Stars heir.

The Regent is Slay the Spire 2's first new character: the Heir to the Throne of Stars, a cosmic monarch whose whole gameplay identity is letting his minions do the work while he spends the budget. If the Ironclad is a hammer and the Silent is a scalpel, the Regent is a project manager with a very dangerous payroll.

Regent stats and starter relic

  • Max HP: 75
  • Starting gold: 99
  • Starter relic: Divine Right — at the start of each combat, gain 3 Stars
  • How to unlock: complete a run with the Silent

Stars are the Regent's signature: a second energy type that only he uses, generated by relics and cards, and spent on his cosmic spellwork. Divine Right guarantees an opening-war-chest of three Stars every single fight, before you've played a card.

Minions do the work

The Regent's other defining mechanic is Summons. His signature summon, the Sovereign Blade, is a construct that fights alongside him — and he runs an entire family of minion-support cards that power up or protect his board. The flavor text says it plainly: he wields cosmic powers but his minions do the work.

In practice that splits his decks into two flavors:

  1. Star engines — generate Stars early, bank them, and spend them in one spectacular turn.
  2. Minion engines — summon early, buff the board, and let passive damage grind fights down while you block.

Most strong runs do a bit of both, because Star generation and summon support often show up in the same card rewards.

What a good Regent run looks like

Take early cards that generate or spend Stars efficiently, then decide whether your run is a burst-caster or a board-builder by the end of Act 1. The Regent rewards planning two turns ahead more than any other class — his ceiling is highest when the Stars (literally) align on a turn where everything spends at once.

Our build guides cover his signature loops in detail: the particle-wall infinite, the infinite chain combo, the radiation engine and the Star-light spam deck.

Ascension notes

Winning an Act 3 boss fight as the Regent unlocks his Ascension ladder. Scaling modifiers hit minion-reliant decks in an interesting way — enemies get faster while your board gets stronger, so the class gradually shifts from comfortable midrange to tight combo play.
