Slay the Spire 2 The Trial — Verdicts, Curses and Rewards

The Trial event in Slay the Spire 2: how the Glory-zone courtroom works, what Guilty vs Innocent verdicts pay, and which curses to watch for.

The Trial is a courtroom event found exclusively in the Glory zone of Slay the Spire 2 — the community's favorite "be the judge" event, where you serve as today's Decider and sentence an accused party. The rewards are real relics and upgrades; the failure currency is real curses. Here's how every verdict pays out.

How The Trial works

Choosing Accept makes you the Decider. The game randomly selects one of three trials, and each presents two possible verdicts — one labeled Guilty, one labeled Innocent. Your verdict decides the reward and the penalty:

The Merchant Trial

  • DECIDE: Guilty → adds the Regret curse to your deck… in exchange for 2 random relics
  • DECIDE: Innocent → adds the Shame curse… in exchange for upgrading 2 cards

The other two trials

The remaining trials (soldier and noble cases) follow the same shape: one verdict trades a curse for a material reward (relics, gold, upgrades), the other trades a different curse for a safer outcome. The curses in the pool — Regret, Shame, Doubt — are the classic trio of "unplayable cards that hurt you while in hand or draw" (Doubt applies Weak on draw, for example).

Which verdict should you pick?

  1. Count your deck slots first. A curse is a permanent deck-building tax: it dilutes every draw until removed (shop removal makes curses the cheapest thing to delete).
  2. 2 random relics beats 2 card upgrades when your relics are weak — two relics can include Ancient-pool power spikes; upgrades are guaranteed but smaller.
  3. Innocent (upgrades) is the low-variance pick. Upgrading two core cards (say, a Pommel Strike and your Block engine) is the safest power gain in the event.
  4. Plan the removal. If a shop is coming, taking Guilty + immediate curse removal is effectively "2 relics for gold." If no shop is coming, don't take the curse.

Trial vs. the other Glory events

The Trial is one of Glory's signature events alongside the zone's combat checks. Unlike combat events, the Trial can't kill you — but a Regret left in the deck can absolutely lose the Act 3 boss. Treat every verdict as a trade, price the curse honestly, and the courtroom pays rent all run.
