Slay the Spire 2 has no console versions yet, so there is no crossplay in the console sense — every player currently buys the game on PC through Steam. The good news: co-op lobbies mix Windows, macOS and Linux players freely, because all three are the same Steam ecosystem. There is no separate account system, no platform-exclusive lobbies and no version gating: anyone who owns the game on Steam can host or join a lobby, regardless of operating system.
Why there's no console crossplay (yet)
Slay the Spire 2 launched into Early Access on March 5, 2026 (Steam, $29.99) and Mega Crit has been shipping two-week patches since. Console versions have not been announced or dated — the studio's public roadmap has centered on Early Access content (new characters, Ancients, Ascension polish) rather than ports. Until a console build exists, crossplay between PC and consoles is simply not a feature anyone can turn on.
When console versions do arrive, crossplay becomes a design question rather than a technical impossibility: the game's netcode is built around 4-player lobbies with host authority, which is the same shape every crossplay deckbuilder ships with. Nothing in the current co-op design blocks it — but as of the 0.105/0.106 patch era, there is nothing official to report.
Playing across OSes: what to know
- Same Steam version required. All three OS builds patch together — no version mismatch issues in practice.
- Performance differs. The system requirements are modest, but Steam Deck and older Macs will want the stutter and launch fixes before a 4-player Act 3.
- Steam Deck is Linux. Deck players join lobbies like any other Linux user; if mods crash the game on Deck, check our mod install guide and the Deck-specific crash fix.
- Controller play works for hosting and joining, though deckbuilding menus are naturally faster with a mouse.
How to play co-op with friends (60-second version)
