Slay the Spire 2 Flex-Type Strength — Temporary Strength Status Explained

The temporary Strength status in Slay the Spire 2: gain X Strength now, lose X at the end of the turn. Burst math, stacking rules, and the decks that turn rental Strength into lethal turns.
The temporary Strength status is Strength with a curfew: "At the end of this turn, lose X Strength." You get the full attack bonus immediately — every attack this turn hits harder — and when the turn ends, the borrowed power goes back. It is a rental, and rentals are for big turns.

How it works
- Instant gain: the moment the status lands, you have X more Strength — every attack you play this turn adds X damage per hit.
- Automatic expiry: end of turn, you lose exactly X Strength. Nothing carries over; the status is not permanent scaling.
- Stackable: multiple sources of the status stack, raising both the instant bonus and the end-of-turn payback equally.
- The math: it is functionally "this turn, your attacks each deal X more" — and multi-hit attacks multiply the value, since every hit benefits.
Burst math that makes it shine
Temporary Strength rewards turns with many attack instances:
- Multi-hit attacks — a four-hit attack gains X × 4 total damage from one status.
- Zero-cost swarms — Claw lines, Shiv lines and repeated small attacks each collect the bonus.
- Whirlwind-style spenders — X-cost attacks that hit all enemies repeatedly convert rental Strength into board-wide damage.
How to use it without wasting it
- Play the status first, attacks after — order is everything; the bonus only covers attacks played before the turn ends.
- Front-load the big hits — if the turn runs short, the small attacks are what missed out, not the big ones.
- Don't count on it defensively — Strength boosts attack damage, not block; plan the turn as an all-in aggression window.
Permanent Strength from cards like Demon Form scales every future turn; the temporary version is for the turn the boss needs to already be dead. Build both, and the spire's health bars stop being a conversation.
