Slay the Spire 2 The Boot — Event Relic Effect and Rules

The Boot in Slay the Spire 2: whenever you would deal 4 or less unblocked attack damage, raise it to 5. Event relic from the Trash Heap — rules, timing and interactions.

The Boot is the game's smallest hammer and its most reliable: "Whenever you would deal 4 or less unblocked attack damage, increase it to 5." Every tiny hit in your deck now lands for a flat 5 — and in a shiv deck, "every tiny hit" adds up to thousands.

Found in a trash heap. Kicks like a mule.

The facts

  • Type: general relic — any character can use it
  • Rarity: Event
  • Source: the Trash Heap question-mark event's rummage option — not boss rewards, not chests
  • Effect: whenever you would deal 4 or less unblocked attack damage, raise it to 5

The fine print

  • Attack damage only. Poison ticks, burn, thorns and self-damage never trigger it — and negative or zero damage doesn't count either.
  • "Unblocked" means unblocked. If the enemy's Block eats the entire hit — 4 damage into 4 Block — no damage got through, and the Boot has nothing to raise.
  • It resolves last. The raise happens after enemy damage-reduction and immunity effects ( dodge-style intangible states and the like), lifting a reduced chip into a clean 5.
  • It doesn't stack: the floor is 5, not 5-per-Boot.

Who wants it

  • Shiv and multi-hit decks — the Silent's swarm and the Claw engine turn "raise every small hit to 5" into a flat damage tax on every cast. Ten small hits gain twenty-plus damage per turn.
  • Weak-affected turns — when your big attack is halved by an enemy Weak, small hits at the Boot's floor often outdamage it.
  • Everyone else — it is a quiet, free upgrade to any deck that sneezes small damage, with zero deckbuilding cost.

The honest review: the Boot is never a run-defining relic and never a dead one. It is five damage, forever, in the pile where five damage was missing.
