Slay the Spire 2 Frail Status — 25% Less Block Explained

Frail in Slay the Spire 2: gain 25% less Block from cards while it lasts. Stacking rules, rounding, what it does and doesn't touch, and how to play around it.
Frail is the defensive debuff: "Gain 25% less Block from cards for X turns." While it is on you, every block number printed on your cards is discounted by a quarter — and the enemies that apply it are timing it for their biggest swing.

How it works
- The discount is fixed at 25% — additional stacks extend the duration by a turn each, they do not deepen the percentage.
- Rounding is downward: 5 Block × 25% = 1.25, so you lose 1 and keep 4.
- Cards only. Block from relics, potions and other non-card sources is untouched — only the printed numbers on the cards you play get shaved.
- It expires by turns, so the debuff's whole cost is concentrated in the window the enemy chose.
Why enemies love it
The AI applies Frail on the turn before a heavy attack. A 20-Block hand reduced to 15 means five more damage through per swing — and against multi-hit enemies, the loss multiplies across every hit. Frail plus Vulnerable on the same turn is the classic combination that ends unprepared runs.
Playing around it
- Block harder, not smarter: when Frail is up, simply play more block — the percentage punishes relying on one perfect defensive card.
- Non-card block ignores it — relic and potion defenses are full price; hold them for Frail turns.
- Kill the clock: Frail only lasts X turns. Turtling one extra turn is often cheaper than forcing damage through a debuffed window.
- Don't panic-greed: spending the Frail turns on scaling (Powers, orb setup) instead of taking the damage trade converts the debuff into a wash.
Frail rarely kills by itself; it kills by making an already dangerous turn dangerous-er. See it, count the enemy's next intent, and spend accordingly.
