Slay the Spire 2 Trash Heap — Underdocks Event Guide

The Trash Heap event in Slay the Spire 2: the Underdocks pile with two options — Dive In (8 HP for a relic) or Grab Random Junk (100 gold plus a random card).

The Trash Heap is an event found exclusively in the Underdocks zone of Slay the Spire 2 — a towering pile of scrapped weapons and discarded trinkets that shifts and rumbles as you approach. It's a simple gamble: skim the surface for safe junk, or dive into the dangerous garbage for something exotic. Here's exactly what each option pays.

A dark Underdocks-style scene in Slay the Spire 2
One player's garbage is another player's relic economy.

The two options

Option 1: Dive In

  • Cost: lose 8 HP
  • Reward: one random relic, chosen with equal probability from:
    • Darkstone Periapt
    • Dream Catcher
    • Hand Drill
    • Maw Bank
    • The Boot (see our Boot relic guide)

Option 2: Grab Random Junk

  • Cost: none
  • Reward: 100 gold plus one random card, chosen with equal probability from a junk-drawer pool: Caltrops, Distraction, Outmaneuver, Clash, Dual Wield, Entrench, Hello World, Rebound, Stack, and Rip and Tear.

Conditions

  • The Heap only appears if you have more than 5 HP — the event refuses to kill you outright (Dive In costs 8, so the floor protects you).
  • The event is unlocked by progressing the game's timeline score — you need the "Cultists" timeline milestone unlocked before Trash Heap starts appearing in Underdocks maps.

Which option should you take?

  1. HP above ~50% and no shop soon → Dive In. 8 HP for a guaranteed relic is the better trade in most runs; relics are the scarcest resource on the map (see route planning).
  2. Low HP, shop ahead → Grab Random Junk. 100 gold is a full card removal at many shops, and removal is often worth more than a random relic — the deck building math again.
  3. Never treat the card pool as a reward. The junk card is a rounding error — most of the pool is B/C-tier filler. If you pick this option, you're buying the gold.

Where it fits in the Underdocks

The Underdocks is Act 1's alternate zone (alongside Overgrowth), home to elites like the Skulking Colony and bosses like the Waterfall Giant and Soul Fysh. Trash Heap is the zone's economy event — the safe-but-boring gold faucet that funds the rest of the run.
