Slay the Spire 2 Save File Location — Where Your Profiles Live
Published 2026-03-09Updated 2026-09-193 min read
Slay the Spire 2 saves live in AppData\Roaming\SlayTheSpire2\steam\<SteamID>, with profile1/2/3 folders for the three save slots. Full path, backup method and file notes.
Backups, save edits, mod resets — everything starts with knowing where the saves actually live. Slay the Spire 2 keeps them outside the Steam install, in your Windows user profile:
C:\Users\<YourWindowsName>\AppData\Roaming\SlayTheSpire2\steam\<YourSteamID>\
<YourSteamID> is the 17-digit account number attached to your Steam login.

The three profile folders
Inside the SteamID folder, your saves live in profile1, profile2 and profile3 — one folder per save slot in the game's menu. The run data inside is the plain-text current.save file, which is exactly why the community loves this game's saves: open it in Notepad and the values are readable (see save editing).
How to find it fast (no typing)
- Press Win + R, type
%appdata%\SlayTheSpire2\steamand press Enter. - Open the folder matching your 17-digit Steam ID.
- Your profiles are right there.
The 30-second backup ritual
Do this before installing mods, running console commands, or hand-editing saves:
- Close the game.
- Copy the whole SteamID folder (all three profiles) to another drive or cloud storage.
- Date the copy —
profile-backup-2026-09-19— so you know which save is which.
Restoring is the same operation in reverse: close the game, paste the old folder back, launch. Steam Cloud may also hold copies, but a local backup is the version you control — cloud sync can happily upload a corrupted run right over your good one.
