Slay the Spire 2 Co-op & Multiplayer — 4-Player Online, Crossplay TBA

Slay the Spire 2 has 4-player online co-op for all five characters — the series' first multiplayer. Crossplay and couch co-op status, plus the multiplayer card pool.

Slay the Spire 2 is the first game in the series with multiplayer: online co-op for up to 4 players, and all five characters are playable in it. It's the flagship new feature of the sequel. Here's the state of it in Early Access.

The Basics

  • 4-player online co-op runs through the full spire climb — the flagship feature Mega Crit built the sequel around.
  • All five characters (Ironclad, Silent, Defect, Regent, Necrobinder) are co-op playable, and several kits have co-op-flavored support — for example, the v0.111.0 patch explicitly buffed The Boot relic so its damage bonus now also applies to Osty's attacks, the Necrobinder companion that shadows the party.
  • There's a small multiplayer-only card pool — support cards you use on allies. The current standings from the community card table: Knockdown, Flanking, Beacon of Hope, Rally, Glimpse Beyond, Energy Surge and Huddle Up in S tier; Demonic Shield mid-table; and Tank — a card that makes you take double damage so allies take half — close to universally panned near the bottom.

How Balanced Is It?

Honestly: it's fun, and it's still being tuned. The most-upvoted community thread on the subject right now is literally titled "Slay the Spire 2 multiplayer is fun but seriously unbalanced" (r/slaythespire, September 2026) — which matches what the beta patch cadence suggests: Mega Crit is shipping balance changes every two weeks and co-op is a big part of what they're iterating on. Expect the meta here to move faster than single-player.

Crossplay — Not Yet Answerable

The game is PC-only in Early Access (Steam, Windows/macOS/Linux — see Release Date & Platforms). That makes the "can Steam players queue with console players?" question moot until console versions exist, and whether PC–console crossplay will be supported has not been announced. When console dates land, this section updates with the real answer.

Local Co-op

No couch / split-screen co-op mode is part of Early Access, and none has been announced. If you want to play together in one room, you're looking at online play from separate machines (or Steam Remote Play, which is not the same as native local co-op — treat that as untested until Mega Crit comments on it).
