Slay the Spire 2 Release Date & Platforms: PS5, Switch, Xbox

Slay the Spire 2 released March 5, 2026 in Steam Early Access on PC. Platform status for PS5, Xbox, Switch, Steam Deck and mobile, updated September 2026.

Slay the Spire 2 was released on March 5, 2026 — into Steam Early Access, on PC (Windows, macOS and Linux) only. The date is confirmed by the Steam store page, Mega Crit's own announcement and launch coverage, all agreeing on March 5, 2026. Because it is still in Early Access, there is no 1.0 full-release date yet, and console and mobile versions have not been announced with dates.

For scale: the original Slay the Spire spent about 1.5 years in Early Access (2017–2019), and Mega Crit explicitly references that when estimating this one.

Is Slay the Spire 2 on PS5, Xbox or Switch?

Not yet — and no console launch has been announced. As of March 2026, "Slay the Spire 2 is only available on PC," as Radio Times put it in a dedicated platforms explainer. Coverage notes it "seems like a given" that consoles will follow — the first game ultimately escaped to PS5, Xbox, Switch, iOS and Android — and the common expectation is that console versions arrive alongside the 1.0 full release rather than during Early Access. That sequencing matched the original game's post-1.0 console journey, but it is speculation, not an announcement (to be confirmed).

  • PS5: Push Square openly pleaded "Is Slay the Spire 2 coming to PS5? Because we need it right now" in March 2026 — a question the outlet could only answer with "no date." No PlayStation listing exists.
  • Xbox: Nothing announced. Xbox players currently cover the game the way many do: buying the Steam copy and streaming it (community reports describe running the game on decade-old desktops and streaming to phones and handhelds).
  • Switch / Switch 2: The question "Will the full release of 2 come to Switch 1 / Switch Lite?" sits unanswered on the game's subreddit — typical of every console inquiry so far. The original's Switch port came long after 1.0, so "wait for the full release, then wait some more" is the only evidence-based guess.

Mobile: The One Semi-Confirmation

Mobile is the sole non-PC platform Mega Crit has actually addressed: after the release-date announcement in February 2026, the studio said a mobile version will "appear at some point," but explicitly not for the start of Early Access, and gave no dates. Their reasoning is sequence, not rejection — the team wants to "make sure the game runs without issues" on desktop first, with "greater hardware compatibility" listed among the things the full version will add.

Crossplay & Co-op on Each Platform

Online co-op (up to 4 players) is a PC/Steam feature today, using the Steam friends list — there is no matchmaking, so co-op means partying up with people you already know or a community invite. Crossplay is to be confirmed and effectively moot: with no other platforms shipping, there is nothing to cross-play against. A Steam community thread asking about console–PC cross-platform multiplayer (March 25, 2026) received no developer answer. When (not if, per expectation) consoles arrive, how co-op and crossplay work across them is an open question — watch the store page's Features list for changes.

What's Coming Before 1.0

The Early Access roadmap Mega Crit describes adds, over the 1–2 year run: more gameplay content, "a true ending" (a fourth act is widely expected to be the final confrontation, per reviews and community consensus — to be confirmed), alternate versions of acts, more characters or content "throughout Early Access," improved balance, hardware compatibility, effects and more languages. Long-term reviews suspect the rough edges you can see today — stand-in art on a few cards, balance pendulum swings — are precisely the things this window exists to sand down.

Bottom line: buy it on PC (all three desktop OSes and Steam Deck), and treat console and handheld versions as a "later" story — mobile is officially promised "at some point," everything else is TBD.
